vts conversion

ive been thinking about getting a vts but i absolutley love my vtr and havent got the heart to sell it so i thought about dropping a vts engine in the car, if i was to declare this on the insurance would that mean i am effectivley just insuring a vts or would the premiums sky rocket because it has been modified?

    thanks

Depends on the company. My company wont even insure me with an s conversion however they will insure a vts. Fecking stupid but it classes as a highly modified VTR. Not a vts as the chassis number relates to a vtr.
I notice you put "if i was to declare". My advice is to 100% declare everything you do. Say you crash into someone and the insurance company looks over your car and see's the engine (not likely to miss it) They will void your policy there and then and take all the money you have paid them. Also you will have to pay for the cost of the other persons car repairs and medical bills. And worst case scenario, they die. You facing a court case? Could happen.

you know in circumstances like that mate.... For instance i heard that if someone had a Fully comp policy and had an undeclared mod on their car, Suspension kit perhaps or a SS manifold and they crashed, if the insurance found out about the mod, their fully comp policy ( theoretically ) would only be worth third party cover.

So basically your car wouldnt be payed out for but the other partys car would, ( if the crash was your fault of course )

Or is that wrong, and if you crash with an undeclared mod your fucked, end of. ???

Correct. If you have an undeclared mod on your car and the insurance company finds out they are within rights, and usually do, to void your entire policy. Not heard of any cases where they still fork out for the other persons car. Insurance company's dont like paying out and do everything they can not too. Best to declare everything and then your covered.
