My mate is selling up his Fiesta XR2 Stock Hatch in place of a VTR. The rules allow the use of both the Ph1 (90bhp) and Ph2 (100bhp) models, however, loads he's seeing have a Ph2 engine in a Ph1 shell. Parkers.co.uk lists both shapes as being 920kg in road trim (hardly accurate info though...). I know my stock Ph2 was 914kg though.
I'm guessing a Ph1 will be cheaper to buy originally to convert to a track car, and perhaps people who already has a Ph1 stock hatch later desiced to just convert the engine to Ph2 for the extra 10bhp, but could there be a difference in the weight of the two shells to make it worth swapping the Ph2 engine into the Ph1 shell to maximise the power:weight?
My Ph2 bonnet weighs a metric ton and I can't see the flat Ph1 bonnet being so heavy...
