vtr ph1 mpg questions.

this might just be me getting worried here.

basiclly i avrage :

30>33ish miles to a fiver?

54 miles to a tenner?

154 to about 20quid. (light is on and needle is on bottem of the tank)

this sound about right? mostly town and giving it abit of welly on 60 roads.

doesn't sound too bad to me tbh mate!
I get just over 200 miles for £25ish on my mk2 R, and that's with pretty careful driving. I think you're just worrying mate!

Could just be you giving it the beans on the road. I noticed when i had VTR engine if i put my foot down the fuel would drop quite quick. If i put my foot down with the S engine in it doesn't really make as much difference.

I get good MPG anyway as motorways etc i rarely do over 60 i save the petrol for the fun roads lol

In my VTR I can get about 43mpg careful driving and about 37mpg if I've had a few silly drives. I don't know how much £10 gets me as prices vary from week to week and on the the type of fuel I put in ie 95 or 99 RON. Give the car a service, and change the filters (air, oil and fuel) and you should see a difference. Plus I wouldn't put too much faith in the fuel gague. One minute mine can show as being half full, then after a few steady miles can show only a third of a tank. Then after stopping and starting, will go back to half way.

Just on another note, I was reading through the handbook whilst waiting to pick the kids up from school and it says that when the light comes on, there is roughly 4 litres of fuel left in the car.

stop gaugeing the fuel by money and instead work in litres put into the tank,

i.e i put 25 litres in and i got 100 miles that works out to x miles per gallon!

this will be a more consitant figure than using money to gauge it as the price of fuel varries so much!

well today ive found out i can get upto 62miles to tenner. normal and giving it some beans.

and it still didnt cut out! but i got scared and put fuel in just incase lol.

thats made me feel a better more confident now

ehh wtf i get 160 miles to £20 in my VTR, thats with some fun driving. although my engine was rebuilt (top end) about 20thou miles ago, i rarely go over 15k revs, NEVER go over 20k revs unless havin fun, and all these figures are driving around town :/

best way economy wise is to put £20 in at a time; £15 normal unleaded, and £5 super unleaded (like xcelium, that kinda shite)

fyi, you wanna be at the speed where u get peak torque, as this is when the engine is most efficient. in a VTR, this is 3,500revs roughly 75mph.

i put 30 quid in aka 26 litres will tell u wat i miles i have done when lights on again only had car 2 days(finding it very hard not to go everwhere in 3rd gear lol)

i average 70-80 miles to £10 of petrol in my mk2 VTR i could get way more just i panic and go to the petrol station. thats with the odd overtake and some spirited driving. thats at around 114.9p a litre so around 8.5 litres. with a bit of motorway driving i get around 95-100 miles to £10 which seems around normal tbh.

is your car Decatted ? that will make your car go through more petrol. if not then i would change the Lambda sensor

one thing to consider about the distance on that money is the petrol prices around our areas, mine is 117.9 per litre, people could have used 111.9p round for theirs. Although that 40p per £5 wont make too many miles difference, the £3.20 for £60fuel pretty much would.. (2.6litres for my area, 20-30+ miles lost for expensive fuel)

Is your favourite film Driving Miss Daisy by any chance? My truck has an automatic gear box and even that goes over 20k revs when driving around towns, and trucks have a way smaller rev range, the red line is at 3000rpm and you'll never get in there.

but seriously, this is adequate! whats the point in hooffin it round streets at traffic lights n shit. it costs too much and you look like a spacker.

my car is decatted too btw, still 70-80miles per £10

on a standard car 95 is fine and alot cheaper, afterall thats what it was designed to run on.

Mine runs on vpower thats 99 Ron but its mapped for it
