Front end Slides TOO much when wet

  1. #1
    Hi can anyone help

i have a 1998 white saxo x and i am currently experiencing problems when its raining. everytime i turn certain corners in wet conditions the front end seems to slide a lot if im going at about 15mph. i can control it but its not nice also i struggle when pulling off in rainy conditions too. the front end just doesnt seem to have enough traction. its ok in dry conditions. can any one help?

also ive noticed the the suspension at the front is higher than at the back? could this be the reason?

    cheers

    +1 to the shit tyres.
Get some decent tyres on and take it from there

What brand of tyres do you have on the front?
  5. #5
Shit tyres, and having the front higher than the rear will contribute to understear too.

Its not really going to be the brand that would make any difference when driving normally.
Most likely this is going to be overly worn tyres, too high pressure, or old degraded tyres.

Shitty tyres same in my old VTR was fun though Easy to control

haha it could be the tyres il have a look later today. there defoo not worn though lots of tred left on them and yeah its a little funny when your trying to pull of especially when your crossing traffic and somethings coming and your stuck there with your tyres spinning like mad. its like sonic the hedge hog when you rev him up lol

    any recommendations on good tyres?

The throttle isnt on n off you kno, you can feed the throttle in so you dont wheel spin lol

I know that lol i aint a boy racer or anything just when your quickly trying to pull out and yeah put your foot down on the throttle a little too much. but i do mean that when it spins in wet conditions i really dont put my foot down i try to pull off as slow as possible cause i know it will spins way too easyily if i do put it down hard

I can pull away on wet grass and not wheel spin with shit tyres.

Name ur budget and tyre size and we will tell ya what to get. My gf had shit tires on her Ibiza and I hated driving it when wet. We went and replaced all 4 with some falkern ze912s and they were excellent.

As Kam said previously, I dont think its the brand of the tyre. I think its the driving style tbh. You can make any brand tyre wheel spin if you slam the throttle down and the clutch up.

Not trying to jump on a bandwagon, but sliding, at 15mph?

    Are your clocks out?

Lock the wheel over on a corner with slippery tarmac throttle down and youll understeer like a cunt! He also goes on about it being when he takes off at traffic lights.. lol

EDIT: think i got the wrong end of your post..

Worn tyres or driving style still.

ok ok enough about the driving style lol the cars absolutely fine when in good conditions clocks are ok im guessing its only when the conditions are wet that i have these "problems" il check my tyres etc and post them up on here. ha ha there wil probs be some good laughs about the branding no doubt. butg yeah my driving style is casual i aint trying to be the person next to me on the lights or anything just slowly pulling off. also another issue ive noticed is a wobble kinda noise when driving at about 30mph ive been told it could be the bearings whats the cost of having these done at a garage?

My tyres are cheap chinese ones and if I am following normal traffic I have to go slower than them due to how bad they are in the wet. They are average-good in the dry though!
Gonna get some new ones this month for saftey's sake

Like Steve says get some good ones for Christ Sake. It's the only thing between you and the road on your car.

check the condition of the tyres, then get the tracking checked
