Remove your throttle cable and run some wd40 through it, mine used to stick and my car used to cut out/idle bad.

    Mate try map sensor
    temperature sensor
    any probs pm me

    fuel filter may need changing
  5. #5
it wont be the throttle cable as said above if it cuts out?!?!

tbh id say go for for what saxovtssnap said but it sounds similar to a problem i had with my cinquecento (which turned out to be crank sensor) after plugs, leads, coil packs, lots of stress and a nasty dent in the wheel arch where i got so angry with it, i paid a mecanic friend to sort it and it took him 2 days...

what im saying is it may be worth having a diagnostic done? sounds like sorta thing you can change loads of things on the off chance its them...

Jason, does it drive fine and after say hmm 15mins of driving it will cut out or lack power and die? .. then have to pull over for 5 mins to get it working again

its simple its your ECU ive had the same problem, spent hundreds diagnostics kept bringing a different fault, replaced the ECU works fine i also had this problem on my seat leon and again replaced the ECU

fuel filter needs changing, sounds like blockage.........

No, biggest problem is lumpy idleing and the rev counter goes up and down like a hookers knickers. While driving it'll randomly start bunny hopping.

If you MIL (ECU warning lamp) is not on and the wiring to it is good then suspect ECU. With this type of fault you need to have a diagnostic test. When running is this bad and things like the MIL illuminates I is quite common that a diagnostic tool will not be able to communicate with the ECU. The first things to test are the ground connections to the ECU, quite a common problem on french cars. I have worked on cars, especially renaults, that have run so badly and appear doomed only to find a broken earth fixes it completely.

why do people ignore the basics and get all technical? is it getting fuel? has the fuel pressure been checked?

Yes, dead right. I just read the first post again. It says light is not on. I have assumed it isn't working i terms of it is not on at all, but more than likely means not on as a warning! In light of that fuel is the likely problem.

mine did that and all i did was replace air flow system and gave it a full service!! fuel filter was a wreck in particular!! worked a treat dude!!!!

Hmm, i did have a pipercross induction but put the standard box back on.. if i rag the balls off it, it will not cut out, sometimes lacks power at 3-6 rpm then finds itself again.. Theres sooo many different things people said

    Air flow
    ECU
    Fuel filterr
    Map sensor

Ahhhh guys! I appreciate the time and effort of you guys trying to help but i canny spend more money on him :'(
But many thanks for your feedbacks

could it be the o2 sensor as they only cut in when the engine is hot? just a idea im not really up to speed with the saxo's yet as im a ford mech. sorry just realised you already changed it.

    +1 on fuelling

before you give in on it why not try the free things you can do

    get some carb cleaner first..

    clean the Throttle body
    Clean the map sesnor
clean teh crank sesnor (ususaly get shitted up)

while at tick over disconnect the green top coolent sensor and see is there is a change in idle, if no change in idle this may be you cause,
the coolent sensor can control over fueling and make the car stall / bunny hop as u say lol..

worth a try and its only the matter of £3 for a tin of spray lol,

any probs give me a shout, im doing mine 2moz so im happy to get pics for you
