hello there i have a squeak from a alternator but have changed it twice so it isnt the altenator, its definatly in that area as when i put oil on the alternator belt it stops squeaking its so weird, is it the alternator belt it self as it cant be anything else cheers guys

im currently having a shitty squaking noise at the moment from my alternator belt.

does it only squak from cold. if so its the crankshaft pully squeaking as they slip on the rubbers. get a solid one from gmc for £70

is the belt tight enough? try tensioning it up

also is the tensioner pulley fooked? take belt of and try spinning the pully freely and see it it makes like a shhhhhh noise .

i have similar problems cant sort mine out its driving me insane. i changed crankshaft pully . tensioner pully and new belt still squaling. gonna try a new alternator this wekend ., giving up hope

if you know its deffo not the alternator or belt under too much tension then get a block of belt dope and run it on the belt will soften your belt surface and help stop friction squeel ue use it loads at ford it even comes in a ford bar of soap lol .

Might be the pulley bearing maybe?

the altinator itself won't squeek it'll either knock or just fail to charge iirc. you squeek its either the tensioner pulle bearing is fubar, or the belt itself is slipping check for adjustm, ent it should be roughtly 10mm of deflection when pressed with a finger.
