more bad news, ma gear box is about ready pass out. what gear box should i go for and what prices. ma pal can remember seeing a 6 speed for 400 bucks but cant remember what web site. what would yous go for and how much will it skin me. its for a 51 plate vtr

how longs a piece of string, gearbox dont generally fail if correct oil is used and changed regulary, also if you dont drive like a spaz or change gear like your driving a sierra or wheelspinning.

I'll vouch for driving like a spaz in my old ibiza...36k miles to destroy the gearbox!! Won't be doing that again in a hurry especially at £700 all in (inc clutch)!

gearboxs are about £100-250 from salvage/scrappys, not hard to fit just time consuming.

Id say that they are cheaper than a VTS box, Better condition, Simular ratios, Loads about.

Try searching this has been mentioned loads of times

S1 rallye box mate if available but limits ur top to 110
