hi all the car is in the garage having the plates for the cage made he asked me if i want to weld the feet to the plates or just bolt them ? because it is the bolt in cage with the holes ?

weld plates as you are then fit captive nuts and then bolt in. its not then just a bolt in cage. main issue is that where you are bolting to is enforced. i like the option of not having to cut my cage out if i need a new matrix or possibly windscreen?

Why would you need to cut it out for a new matrix or windscreen?

I don't know why we are asking why. You can replace them with a weld in cage. Otherwise saxmax cars would be scrapped if the windscreen is smashed lol. which happens a lot

because the front part of the cage (in my car) is right in front of the dash. the dash neds to be droped down to remove the matrix.

cant just unbolt a weld now can you.

windscreen had a question mark after it

even most bolt in cages the feet need welding in these days.

Im a fan of the bolt in over fully welded though, it means theres less chance of the whole lot being scrap in a crash. Where as say foggy for example rolled his rally car with the SD cage but only the front section got fecked so the rear was saved for the new shell.
