emissions Lambda Numbers(3 plug)

  1. #1
    On fast idle test
    i failed on

    lambda
suppose to be under 1.03 i got 118

    Natural idle test

    CO 0.5 limit and i got 9.08?

    What would this suggest
    first lambda is fucked.
or the second is fucked(after cat)

    3 plug..

    cheers lads
  2. #2
The second lambda doesn't affect how the engine runs/ emissions in any way.

Problem is likely to be the first lambda, the CAT, or both. Make sure the system is completely air tight too.
  3. #3
didnt even have the second plugged in to be honest

    the cat is fine.
    must be lambda(hopefully)

are all lambdas the same? Eg 1.1 vts vtr gti etc??

No worries there then as all it does is keep the engine light off the dash.

From what i've seen, VTS lambdas are a different shape to the 8V ones. I would get one from a VTS personally.

how do u know its a VTS?
Are they all blue plug types on the end?

Whats the lambda after the cat actually called?(genuine name)
  6. #6
Just a guess haha. Was I right?

Not too sure if I'm honest mate. On my 3 plug VTR, the sensor before CAT had a green connector, sensor after had a blue. IIRC, the VTS is the other way round... or both sensors could be the same colour?

Proper names are upstream lambda (before CAT) and downstream lambda (after CAT).

    Nope GTi Im afraid

    on a gti/vts 3 plug

    its blue capped in manifold
then a black one after cat.

a oxygen sensor just the one in the manifold yep??

looking at all the bosch ones on ebay
and they look very different(even the actual lambda) lol

Should be fine as long as you get the right one for your car - you want to change the upstream lambda screwed into the manifold.

Pop the reg in Eurocarparts - they're around £60 new from there.

EDIT: I think this is what you're after.

i think that looks about right.

the lambda is a bitch to get out the manifold aswell:@

    cheers dude

Hey. Where is the black plug for second lambda usually located mate? The light on my dash is annoying and cant find the plug to sleeve the lambda anywhere. Last owner must of just unplugged it im guessing.

Cheers in advance for any help
