Engine stalls right after start

    Helo everyone!

    Here is my problem:

At first my car just didn't want to start. The starter motor was clunking when turning the key but didn't rotate the engine. The next day the starter motor began to work, but then i turn off the starter (the engine starts) it stalls...

If I push the accelerator pedal at this moment the engine reaches idle RPM and everything works fine.

Also the starter motor seems to work a little slow at first.

May this be an ignition key mechanism? Or so kind of sensor? I have no idea at all

    Thanks in advance!

forgot to mention - its restyle VTS

Just checked and cleaned ICV - didn't help at all...

To idle properly I need to open throttle for several seconds after start and then it idles ok (950-1000rpm - it it ok?)

And the startr motor works really slow - low voltage may be?

    Help anyone please.

    Check your spark plugs

    Test battery voltage under cranking

If you can, either put a set of jumpers on or give the battery a charge. If you test the battery voltage during crank don't expect >12V, it will drop well below that during start. Would be much better to start with a good battery in the beginning....that will prove that low voltage is not a factor.

I can't see it being a voltage problem. How many times do people bump cars, jap, french, whatever and the car is running perfectly...but you never know. Dead or dying batterys can cause issues, but try starting with a good one first.

Thanks for input. Just checked voltage - the battery is dead, under load it was below 7!

I bought a new one but... i did not install it and everythiong started to works fine when I was leaving shop. I'll check it tomorrow morning with the old battery. And will put the new one anyway after it.

May be the cleaning of ICV worked (it was terribly dirty), just needed some time for ECU to get used to it...
