Airbag Light !

   Been looking through loads of posts on here about this .. Seems to be a common problem
   
   My airbag light remains on constant doesnt flash or anything. Tried going under the seats and disconnecting the orange wires and re connecting them but still remains on ive wiggled the wires but still nothing
   
   My car hasnt been in any bumps or that to trigger anything it just appeared one day
   
   What can i do now to get it out but i still want my airbag to work lol ?

   u tired the airbag unit under the centre of the dash? on the steering wheel if u got on on that? i got a spair unit failing that

   Gonna put new connectors on the wires under the seats and see if that will maybe knock the light out
   
   Will let use know after ive done it

   Just been looking at the thread mate cos i have the same problem. Do i have a airbag unit in my saxo aswell or is that just the vtr? . Ive checked back of my airbag in the wheel. I got a 1996 Saxo SX. You say under the ashtray is that under the immobiliser?

   Ok so i have my wires under my seat in brandnew connectors and its still on ! The electrics in these cars are soooo shit
   
   What can i try now ?

   How have you tested the steering wheel airbag???
   
   The information I am about to give you is a bit of a background into the airbag system and diagnostics.
   
   Two things that often go wrong with airbag systems...
   
   1. The seat connections.
   
   2. The clock spring as it is correctly called behind the airbag goes open circuit. The clock spring is just a length of plastic coated copper conductors wound up like a spring. This is housed in the black plastic thing behind the steering wheel.
   
   To diagnose them quickly is to have a diagnostics carried out. It should tell you immediately what is wrong. My diagnostic kit will not only tell you what fault code is stored but it will show you the measure values of the airbags. As airbags age the resistance of them changes and if they are not in tolerance the system will flag up a fault. This entails an airbag change.
   
   Other than doing what you have done you could get hold of some 1/4 watt 2 ohm resistors from maplins. Disconnect the airbags and fit these into the connectors, they are the correct value to simulate an airbag. This will tell you if the airbags are good.
   
   Without diagnostic kit, diagnosing an airbag fault once you have tried the obvious can be very difficult. I know it may cost you, but get a quick diagnostic...it will save you a lot of time and hassle.
