Few things wrong with my car, any advice will do!

Right to start off, just bought a '99 MK2 Saxo with no mot, got it mot'd but i still have a few problems..

    1. I changed the battery as the one that was on it wasn't holding charge, scince fitting a new battery the battery light has come on and wont go off but everything is working fine?!

    2. Vibration... just today i had the car fully balanced and it does feel a little bit better to drive than before but i have huge vibrations when revving/driving the car more so at low speeds, not so much through the steering wheel but all through the car?

    3. Steering rack, its bouncing/clunking from side to side and i need to change it, are they easy to change or is it an engine out job?

Any help or advice will be greatfull.. thanks

    1. Disconnect the battery for 2 hours, reconnect it and the warning lights will go, then take it for a service. They will sort that. £180 a service.

    2. Vibration...I used to get this in my 99/2000 peugeot 106, usually in 2nd gear going about 5-10 mph, give it loads of revs.

Sorry, ignore the first 1, something weird happened.

Ill disconect battery for 2 hours, will see.

I dont think its the gears as its constant and in any gear, would a clutch release bearing cause this when in gear as sometimes when im hard down on the clutch i can hear it rattling a bit? but is fine when in gear.

Battery light ON with engine running means it is not been charged - suspect alternator faulty

Vibrations likely cause is a knackered standard mount or someone has fitted poly mount(s).

Rack is changed with engine in. Make sure its the rack though - usually find its the track rod end at fault.

Clutch release bearings generally rattle/squeel when they are dying. If the rattle stops with clutch down or quietens at steady revs of say 1300 then it's likely gearbox input shaft bearing worn.

    ps
Disconnecting battery is a fix for dead dials/guages mate. It will not fix a non charging battery. If you can, check voltage accross the battery. Should be about 12.5 engine off and 13.5-14v ish engine running.

Light is on constantly with ignition and it hasnt lost any charge so it is charging fine, alternator looks brand new.

I changed both bottom arms for new ones for the mot, are they any other mounts i should check?

Will check on the rack before i buy one, i was told the rack was bouncing and the gaitors are in poor conditon, would track ends clunk even if no movement in an mot check?

As mentioned first one sounds like a dodgy alternator or earths. Second one, pop your bonnet and see if there is excessive movement in the engine, if so its most likely an engine mount gone

Where you based mate. Some people on here have dianostic readers that'll clear the fault. Including me. For a brew someone close will save you 60 quid stealer price.

Turns out the rattle was the bolt for the top engine mount (snapped) didnt cost anything to fix and well chuffed now.. thanks
