Ok, another mad idea from me, i have a vtr 2002, cat in mani, 2 lambda's, 3 plug, the plan is to remove the cat leaving the cast mani with it's lambda inplace, fabricate a new downpipe to link a mk1 centre section with cat and second lambda. Will this be less restrictive?, also should be mot friendly.

#2Your causing hassle their mate as their a pain in the arse to get of and replace. Also you will have to put the cat one back on for your MOT. Mine is decat but luckey its on the centre section. If you dont position the mini perfectely your stuffed. Also you will have to replace it for a de-cat mani e.g. 4-2-1 or a 4-1-1 you cant just chop away at the ppe and bodge something together

#3As for MOT without a shadow of a doubt 100% failure. As that one of the most important things they check for. As the cat is designed to trap the bad fumes and clear the exhaust waste if you remove the cat you letting everything get out and poluting the atmosphere. Really mate unless the cat is on the centre section their is no point in getting it de-cat unless it was used as a trax off road car. Cos all the differance is that its loude and a couple of pops. I wan take mine off and put my cat on in 15 mins.

#4so a saxo will not pass a mot with out a cat ?? i had a megane that had a de-cat and that passed its mot ??
-
#5Then you had a lucky and dumb examiner cos one of the crucial parts to the mot is to see if the car is safe and is good on emmisons.
Either that or you got him to do a dodgy MOT -
#6some more eco cars will pass without a cat, but i tell you know a saxo will not.
what is the point in going to the hassle of doing that, when your just going to add a cat back on, its still going to be the same, as technically your just moving the cat to another place. not worth it, just buy a 4-2-1 or 4-1 manifold then replace when mot due. -
#7No need to fabricate anything, buy a mk1 manifold. Cars can pass mot's without cat converters, they're more for when the cars cold
