15" Alloys

  1. #1
    Hi Guys,

Im new to the forum, just bought myself some OZ Racing wheels, fantastic deal, 4 wheels, with spacers & bolts and 4 new tyres for £50, which was cheaper than replacing the wheels on my standard 13" alloys.

Anyways i own a saxo 1.1 forte, and have fitted the alloys last night, i bought the longer bolts, but found i needed an extra 5mm spacer on the rear wheel as it kept on rubbing (not against the arch think it was the suspension).
i know the wheels were off a VTS, so im thinking i have the problem due to having drums on the back??
i was just wondering, the wheels already have a 20mm spacer that fits into the alloy wheel, is it safe enough to add a universal 5mm spacer (think its a halfords ripspeed one?)

    Any replies gratefully appreciated

Forgot to mention, the new alloys are 195x45 R15's (supposedly they have the same diameter as the 14" VTS/R alloys??)

No mate, I would strongly advise against running 2 spacers on 1 wheel. Best bet is buying a pair of hubcentric spacers, they bolt onto your hub then the wheel to the spacer. I would have thought that they should have fitted though, is your axle not fucked?

Nah i think the axel is fine, its the tyre thats just slightly catching.
The spacers that came with the alloys, look exactly like the hubcentric ones that fit into the alloy, however they dont bold to the hub first.
The 5mm Spacer was all that was needed to give me the room for the tyre not to rub.
Spoke to a garage and they said it should be fine, however im going to take it over tonight to get it all checked out to make sure its all ok (& get the axel checked now you mentioned it)

If need be how much would i be looking at for a set of hubcentric spacers? i need 20mm front and 25mm rear

disc beams are wider than drum beams so this might be why they are catching, but didnt catch on the vt they were fitted to originally

Your probibly looking at 40 quid each for a new set of spacers plus longer again bolts, your other option is fit a disk axle from a vtr plus vtr hand brake.
