I have 283mm discs but have no idea what calipers I have :S

Need to get myself some new pads and am in a pickle as to what calipers I have.

The discs are 283mm in size so automatically thought that they were the 306 gti jobbies. But after looking at pictures online I think the carriers look different

Looked through the service history and I have reciepts for GMC big brake conversion. So maybe they are just spaced standard calipers

Poor pic of what I have

    Pic of 306gti brakes

306 turbo desiel brakes? What size discs do these use?

    Any help appreciated

Dturbo use 266mm discs. You sure you have 283 discs already? Has any metal been grinded off? If not they might be gti180's. Or see if you can get lucas or bosche gti6 calipers.

They look like gti180 brakes bud

Actually Dturbo discs are 244mm and the Hdi discs are 266mm, GTI-6 are 283mms

Theyre not GTI180's unless they have another carrier on?

Ive taken 266 off a dturbo before, must have been put on by the owner.

Yeah 266mm discs are the usual upgrade for Dtub owners as there cheaper than the GTI-6 discs and calipers and you don't have to change the master cylinder.

After looking at standard calipers they look the same as them

    Maybe I just have spacers

    Confirmed with GMC

They are their own/hispec 285mm discs with standard saxo calipers

On the plus side saxo pads are nice and cheap but the discs arnt lol

    Jeeeeeez, bad information ahoy!

They're the standard caliper. As you said, they've been spaced.

FYI, ALL cars using the standard Saxo VT* caliper run 247mm discs.

LOL @ saying they're Gti180's. That's like saying a rowing boat looks like the titanic.

    from picture.
if back of disc is same as front you don,t need discs anyway

Only reason I was considering disks is because I thought they were warped as when hot on track I get brake judder. But I dont think its disc related now as when its cold you can hammer on from 80 to 0 mph and its as smooth as anything.

So I am putting it down to either the softness of the greenstuff pads clogging up the grooves and causing the judder. Or something else in the drivetrain

    Cheers for the help btw

306 gti, berlingo van & 206 gti's all use 283mm disks iirc! I have 307 HDi brake setup on mine and they are 283mm also come to think of it!

Go to a scrappy and see if you can find a smashed up 307 Hdi is my suggestion! I paid £50 for a complete setup! and they are basically gti180 setup as far as im aware
