so i finally got hold of an unplugged ecu, just got back from uni so gunna play in a minute lol wake up the neighbours.

got an unlocked vtr ecu that i am going to fit! just to check that im going the the correct way about it...

    1. start the car
    2. unplug the imobiliser while car is running
    3. unplug old ecu and fit the new vtr ecu

    job done, is that correct?

that will unlock your old ecu and yes just leave the box disconnected to avoid relocking hte new one?

    Why are you swapping ecus?

lol, i dont get why you want to fit something you already have?

i have just fitted a vtr engine and my ecu is from a 1.4 but unfortunately its fucked! and just done this and the car wont even start so im guessing the ecu i just bought isnt unlocked!

u could just pull out your immobliser box and fit the new ecu, no need to start the car and pull it out as that will unlock your ecu, but i dont think unlocked 1.4 ecus are high in demand lol

i did that and it didnt work...its the older type single plug! ryanmt you seem to know a lil bit bout ecus, the one thats in the car at the moment the one that ive got teh problem with has these numbers on it...

    IAW AP.81

what is it? 1.4,1.6 i think it might be a peugeot one as the guy that had the car before put a different engine in it.

thats a 1.4 106 ecu or one of the later saxo 1.4s. The early saxo 1.4s had a 1ap.40. Interchangeable though so you shouldn't be having any problems. Unless you are trying to run a vtr lump on it, in which case the wirings totally different at the ecu connector even though its the same thing!

You need an mp5.2 bosch unlocked ecu by the sounds of things. Would have to know what exactly the engine/loom is you have atm
