battery light a pain

   when i brought the car the battery light come flicker then stay on then flicker then when put foot-down a little it would go off, got to a point where the battery would not hold charge so changed the battery that worked for a while until the same happened again, so i brought second hand alternator from an
   02 saxo vts fitted that and everything was ok for about 3 months and now having the same problem again, is there anything else i could check or should i go and buy a recon alternator instead of second hand one,

   has it got a after market manifold on it ?
   
   as soon as i put my 421 mani on my vts this started happening... so it could be that or get a new alternator and see what happens

   I don't see how the manifold will affect the alternator unless you mean it is getting fried by the differntly shaped manifold (ie running close to the alt').
   
   You have, for the sake of argument, ruled out the alternator and battery by replacing them - assuming the replacement parts have now not also gone on the fritz!
   
   I would be looking for bad connections at the alternator, battery and earths perhaps?

   there is a wire coming out the top of the alternator that was getting melted, wrapped it in loads of duck tape and it stopped
