this may sound like a stupid question but iam gona ask ive got a vts and i was wondering what the round plastic thing is wiv a metal pipe and a rubber pipe goin into it its directly over my manifold heat sheald its just when i look at cars on this site everyone has moved it i think its a breather but not shure and why do u all move it

if its above manifold and centre of the engine black and attached my to bolts to block it returns the gases back into the inlet to make the emissions better

egr or igr valve its called or something like that

iv seen one on my mates 1.1 mk2 saxo. it looks like it draws in hot air from the just above the manifold. i dont know why but it is connected up to the induction system so thats what i think it is. im not sure why any manufacturer would want to feed hot air into the engine though as it drains the performance a little

it's the egr valve. it pumps in air from start-up from a pump mounted in the passenger footwell. switches off after a few minutes.
