Dipstick query

Okay im not really a car expert or anything like that, but ive got a MK1 1.4 saxo and MK2 VTR.

Now my MK2 VTR's dipstick has a red handle and then has a bit of metal, then a real tiny bit of red plastic at the end. Now when I check my oil levels, i'm finding it real hard to actually get a decent reading, so my questions are

    1) Is my dipstick actually broken? I read on a few threads (I searched before I made this) that the plastic dipsticks break easy, this is a picture of what mine looks like

However, the red bit at the end there is actually even smaller than the picture.

    2) Can I use my mk1 1.4 dipstick? This dipstick is a very long and windy bit of metal, which I found mega easy to use on my 1.4 lol

    Thanks

if in doubt just get yourself to the local citroen dealership and get a new one for the vtr only cost me 4 quid as i broke the handle off mine. not worth guessin when it comes to the oil as its the life blood of the engine.

Very true, although haven't had the oil light come on yet so think i'm okay at the moment, but I will go down and get myself a new dipstick
