loud ping from rear axel?

    now then first heard this i was reversing out of my drive my drivers wheel dropped down the small curb and then when my passenger one dropped off it made a ping noise! the noise is quite loud. it can also happen if i go over a bump with my drivers side missing the bump with the passenger side

    any help on this would be great!

    its the arb end plate mate by the sounds of it, have a search on here and there is loads of advice.

    As abive, give it a tighten, may require a new one, and possibly some weld on where the ARB plate sits depending how bad its got or it will just happen over and over again.

    thats good as i have a spare arb! wicked thanks for the advice lads!

    how easy is it to swap the arb? is it just remove both end plates and pull it out?

    its the arb end plate that is moving on your car, there is no need to replace the whole arb tbh

    i have a stiffer one waiting for fitting the one off the GTI is the only reason for the swap mate lol

    Definately sounds like ARB plate, the bolts are prone to corroding and snapping.

    Yeah mate this happened to me didnt have a clue what it was nearly shit myself it was unbelievably loud
