MK1 Cat-back on a MK2??

  1. #1
May seem like a stupid question but will a cat-back exhaust system off a MK1 VTR fit stright on a MK2 VTR??

The reason im not sure is because obviously the cats are in different places.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my ignorance!

Not sure on that one, as the cat is located in different place. Plus you ain't going to get a quick answer on a Friday Night/Saturday Morning here

    No

it will be too short by around 2 foot where the mark 1 cat should be

if you get a mark 1 decat system it will fit

So would it fit if I bought a mk1 decat pipe or just added a length of pipe where the mk1 cat would be?

Yes a mk1 SYSTEM will fit but then you have to do the oil filter mod. There is a guide on here to do it mate. Then you need a mk1 decat pipe aswell.

thats for the manifold mate not the exhaust itself which requires no other mods apart from the decat pipe

    cat back mufflers

a "cat back" exhaust is all the pipe and muffler(s) from your catalytic converter to the tailpipe. it is a must in emissions legal vehicles to avois a ticket if your replacing your factory exhaust. however "true duals" are very cheap and are nothing more than a pipe from the manafold or header, to the tailpipe, no mufflers or cats.
Upgrading your car, truck, or SUV's auto exhaust system is a great way to build horsepower, free up trapped torque, and improve upon anemic-sounding factory systems.
