i have a saxo 1.4i and its making a wier noise. when i set of in 1st gear its makes a high pitch whining. it does this when setting of and in 2nd and 3rd gear, however the noise comes and goes. ive been told my gearbox its nackerd but im just checking. i have lowrd the car 70mm at bk and 50mm at front. its on 15ns and i have taken all the inner arch thngs out, and cant c any catching points

Gearbox is fucked mate i had the same problem. (spiggot bearing i recall).

Drop a new box in and it will be sound till it goes again. LOL

Mines dropped 60 at the front add its the fucked up angle the driveshafts sit at going to the box which doesnt help.

Well i went for a 1.1 box my mate got it me on the cheap. I think they are usually about £140.

okay nice 1 pal. ive been quoted 185 for a gearbox, sounds a bit on the pricy side. bloody car

Yeah id say so.

Reason i went for a 1.1box is cause they havent been thrashed, they are cheaper and more available than any other box and the car accelerates quicker.

On a 1.4 engine i would recommend a shorter ratio box. Just to give it that little extra bit on acceleration (depending on your driving habits) LOL

Car transplants in nantwich do some reasonable priced boxes and thet have all kinds of boxes available. Worth a try at least if you can save yourself a few notes.
