are the brakes on a saxo meant to be quite spongy?

driven other cars and vans but none have felt like this does, just wondered if its correct

    thanks

Mite be worth changing the brake fluid as it may have lost its properties + making sure no air....
Failing that, brake slave cylinder, in assuming the brake components all good

They generaly a bit dodgy aways but should still stop well

Shoudn't be spongy, check the pads, and I suggest bleeding the breaks.
