Not sitting right after new rear beam (pics)

    Fitted a refurbed rear beam, with a supposed 40mm drop which i requested. Took it off the stands and this is how it sits. It's 40/45 at the front.



    Now the rear is stripped, so I know it will sit a little higher, but it was 50mm and still stripped, and it sat a lot more than 10mm lower than it is now. I do want a nose down stance and mint handling but this is a bit extreme!

    How much do you rekon I should drop the rear beam for the right nose down stance? I'm thinking 20mm but I need opinions!

    another 30mm to get it slightly lower than the front i think.

    looks standard mate to me!! jack it up and tweek your torsion bars,few turns soon drop it....

    Looks okay to me, although if I was being anal I'd drop it another 10mm max as I do it myself so would only be an hour or so work

    Yeah 10 - 15 mm might be a good shout. I just don't want to mess about havinging to change it again after that. Should be easy to do as well as it's a fresh refurb

    I would say drop the rear another 5 - 10mm max. Otherwise, when you put the interior back in the rear will look lower than the front.

    Some people might think it's overkill, but I'd replace the ARB seals if you're lowering the rear. Not worth risking water ingress with a new beam.

    And replacing the arb seals is a good shout, is this really necessary if i don't even take the arb out and just move the plates out the way? Or more just for peace of mind?

    Edit: and would the replacement seals be available at citroen garage?

    I guess you're still disturbing the seals when you hammer the end plates round out the way.

    I would replace them anyway - it won't be much for some new ones from Citroen. Never done them myself (which is probably why I have play in it now), but I think you just pick the old seals off the arm with a flat blade screwdriver and replace with the new ones.

    i would say that was 40 mm down my vts on standard rear is miles higher than that

    yer its not standard for sure. Would say thats only around 20mm. Although with no interior in the rear its hard to say.


    PS you said you had rear camber etc this sorted now?

    Yeah that's what I was thinking, maybe been dropped around 20 -30mm. I rekon i'm going to drop it another 10-15mm at some point but i want to drive it about for a bit now as it's been off the road for about 2 months.

    Yeah i mean it's only a little bit of camber, no way near what it was like before. And with the old axel the steering wheel used to sit to the right when going straight, and felt like it 'floated' some corners and didn't feel steady. But have taken it for a little spin and and the wheel is now straight and the car feels solid when cornering again. So I don't think it's going to be an issue. + there's no play etc..

    How's yours? I saw you said you had some problems?

    Mate mine has the tiniest bit of camber, but has no play and has even amount of tyre wear on both wheels. Also handles fine.
    Ive been told a slight bit of camber is standard, need abit of flex for handling.
    I noticed this at the start of the year and if it was like that because it was fucked then 8 months on it would be miles worse by now but its exactly the same.
    I think its just paranoia to wanting everything to be perfect lol
