1.1 gearbox noise

   finding out something from a friend.
   
   in his 1.1 saxo when lifting off the throttle about 40mph+ it makes a whining/howling noise.
   
   hard to describe the sound really, its had a new clutch recently so ive ruled out the release bearing.
   
   dipping the clutch and what gear it in makes no difference to the noise either,
   
   its also had a new drivers side driveshaft recently too
   
   any ideas guys?

   nah, dont sound like them, wheel bearings sound like "wub,wub,wub,".

   gearbox bearing is that mate?
   
   i think other than checking the gearbox oil, just wait for it to break.

   diff problem i'd think if its making a noise on over run
