What Size Torsion Bars

  1. #1
    Hello,

Just a quick one I'm hoping to collect the below Saturday which are up for sale on here. I was just wondering which torsion bars would be matched for this setup. I've searched around and from what I can see 23mm would be best matched but I'm curious for others opinions please.

Bilstein group n coilovers, Rally design conversion, 220lb mains, 40lb helpers with adjustable top mounts + group n shocks front and rear

Also anyone know the cheapest place to get these I've had a search around and Willsy/AndySAXO manager to find a decent cheap place but no mention of the name

    Cheers in advance guys!

    Think spoox do the bars

I would say go for 21mm torsion bars. IIRC those group n shocks in the picture were designed to run with the 21mm bars. They are too firm for standard torsion bars.

there is a guy on eBay does the bars and they are decent, saxo_ron had them in his saxo, which is now Richie2104's.
I can't remember the spring rate of them, but they were very similar to the 21mm PSF torsion bars which i had.
Also can't remember his seller name, will try dig an e-mail address out for him if you want.
Think there is a few people now on here who have had some from him, build quality is spot on.

I ran 200lb springs with the blue capped bilstein group n shocks and 21mm bars, was perfect for what i needed.

I was going to change the mains to 180lb and run 21s with this setup Wes buddy!

I'd go for 21's if wanting to use the car on the road

Spot on! Thank you..do you think I would definitely need to lower the stiffness on the front if settling for 21's?

Nice! Thanks, do you have the details of where I can pick up some other springs? Or just the details of which springs I would need?

I ran them with the billeting group n shocks (blue cap) with 24mm rear arb, then the group n shocks upfront with gmc springs and it felt awesome on the roads - I wouldn't want to go much stiffer.

    Lol muffin

I'm up in Bristol sitting exams at the moment before being let loose with clients - I'm still on here sometimes!!

The vectra is all good, still enjoying a car with lots of toys and comfort with effortless power. Do miss the Saxo though, have put the money I got from breaking it away for me to enjoy in a few years - toying with a westfield type kitcar build, shouldn't be much more than building up another Saxo of similar pace

Awesome well looks like I'll stick with 21's then I can always go less stiff on the front if needs be.

But thanks a lot everyone see there is a minority on sax-p that can offer decent advice

I would thank you again but i ran out

Ahh well I thought you finished all your Uni gubbins or is this extra?

Yeah I wouldn't mind a bit of V6 And your driving holiday looked immense if I may say so lol.. Yeah well theres always a time to move on and kitcar sounds pretty sweet!

So did I!! But got more exams now as part of chartered accountancy shizzle.

I'd go for 21mm bars if I was in your position - it's one thing saying 'it'll be a track car' but you'd quickly fall out of love if it was uncomfortable to drive on the road.

21mm bars felt good on the European roads, wouldn't want to be much stiffer on some of the bumpy roads

well it down to how you want it to handle, for balance, but depends how you like to handle, but if you just want good blance on the road then 21mm bars would be the way to go man.

Thanks again guys I really appreciate the help i'll definitely settle with 21mm bars and if needs be get lower rated springs up front
