Gear problems!!!

   HI GUYS
   iv got a 1.1 desire 2003 its only done 33000 and one lady owner all the rest iv had it a few months now done some work on it ect ect and have just finished it im really pleased but iv hit a problem... when i pull of first gear is fine no problems at all but as im comming down the gears it just doesnt want to go into 1st :/ any ideas.., thanks jay

   Don't select first if you rmoving. If your having issues getting first when the car is stationary, however, you might be experiencing clutch drag. Tension clutch cable 10mm and try again. Adjustment of cable is done at the threaded end under the battery tray, 2 nuts. You will see what I mean when you have a look.
