Power steering gone off??

   oright,
   came home from work this afternoon the sax was fine, parked it on the drive, 3 hours later got in the car to go to football the battery lights on and no power steering, alternator belt is on, ive had no problems at all with the power steering before , as it decided to pack up on us?

   is there any fluid? smack the pump with a spanner, usually works if its dieing on you lol

   UPDATE, just gone out started it up coz the french fucking things stressing me out, all the electrics where going balistic, abs light on/off airbag light on/off, the hids have gone off and its died, tried to turn it over and the batteries dead its just clicking, i had my timing belt done about 2 month ago, and the belt was too tight(been whining since it was put back on), you think the alternators fucked up?

   happened to me a month back , electrics went crazyy then died and it was the alternator mate 100%

   thanks mate, a thought it might not be the PS pump as they are usually on/off, then u hit them with something and they come to life, well ive tried tht and no joy and shes just been giving me all that commotion there, alternator it is thn. thanks

   will a vtr alternator go oright on a vts? are they the same
