Widening track for stability

    20mm spacers

the asthetic side of things would be a bonus, but surely widening the track would improve stability?

    Noticable?

I think it won't make much difference. Just lower it a decent height (about 40mm) Strut braces etc good tyres and that shoud be ok.

Yes the wider track will improve stability. Turn in won't be quite as sharp though. You can use this geometry of track to tune the car to your liking. Using various spacers, custom if need be, to widen the front or the rear to tailor the characteristics of the car to how you like it. Widening the rear compared to the front will induce understeer and visa versa

Spacers have always been frowned upon in safety and handling terms. For example you would never drift with spacers unless you wanted to lose a wheel. Personally id never run a track car with them. If you wanted wider track, you can actually modify the setup so the chassis caters for it

Popular mod with the 205 boys was to add the wider 309 rear beam.

Should make a difference but not that noticeable on a swb car

I'm not advising the use of spacers, especially under hard use on the track. But they are the only affordable option, and possibly the only option bar building custom wishbones, driveshafts etc etc

Yea the whole custom drive shaft route is the only safe option, personally id never advise using spacers just because they're cheap. Spend the money on poly-bushed suspension and strut braces
