Cooling Fan running constant on vts

  1. #1
Hello hope someone can help me. i've got a saxo w reg 1.6 16v VTS with the cooling fan running all the time even with ignition turned off.

The cooling fan didnt run at first as the cooling fan relay was corroded as well as the plug (at the front of the Radiator). i tried to get a new wiring loom from citroen but they no longer do the part which was helpful so i made up a new loom with a new relay using the old loom as a guide making sure all wires were in the correct place, i also cut back and joined the wires on the exisiting loom where there was no black corroded wires.

Now the fan runs but all the time, i have checked all connections and all are ok. im wondering whether it could be an air lock as car has overheated, or whether it could be a faulty coolant temp sensor. i see it has one green and one blue on side of cylinder head, i take it one is for instrument cluster ( temp gauge works on dials) and the other one is for the ecu. there is also a brown sensor but no plug and i cant seem to find a loose plug to fit. is this for vehicles with air con? ive checked all fuses and all are ok and ive also tried another radiator fan switch but that didnt work.

Has any one got any ideas or had same trouble? or has anyone got any wiring diagrams so i can trace wiring back to ecu?

Hope someone can help as its doing my head in

    Cheers
    Ben

    Hi Ben

I have the same problem and have done the same things as you up to now. Did you get the issue sorted.

He probably had it sorted after 3 and a half years. Try to flush the air out of the coolant pipes if there's any, then it's a faulty temp sensor. Then if that fails to solve the issue, you're looking at a faulty connection somewhere. It's always handy to have an obd 2 machine and find out where the culprit is.

    Hi
No air lock. Which one is the temp sensor? Books say different things???? The green plug is located in the thermostat housing and the blue plug is on side of cylinder head.

    Help!

Blue sensor is for the temp gauge reading, green is for the ecu.
