whats the best way to store an engine as i have a vts engine which i am getting but does not look like it will be fitted till jan/feb whats the best way to store it over the couple of months?

and how is the best way to stand and engine without a stand (have seen them resting the oil filter on a block of wood and have also seen them inside an old tyre? is the sump strong enough?

    thanks

leaning on the oil filter is sound m8.. remember to turn the engine over a few times with crank pulley every so often so it doesnt seize and leave it with oil in.. u not still interested in my engine? local too.. 07815 173655

Now then this may seem a stupid question but which way am I turning it by the crank pulley clock wise? Cheers

To save it seizing mate, if it seizes, your engine is useless, and things can easily go wrong with it

Just keep the engine upright, and turn it over every so often.

I keept the exhaust outlets (on the head) coved up (i will fit the old manifold for you tomorrow)

I also coverd the inlet with maskin tape & an turned it over every few days

I will bring the tyre i used to rest it in

readie, usually in industrial estates, tyre fitters normally leave allot of tyres lying about on the street for collection from waste disposals, i know a few places up here that do this - but they cut straight through on one side, so no one can reuse them, thats if your desperate for them if you cant wait to get one off scott.

    stick it in a trye
or put it on a pallet with something support it so it carnt fall over.
and if outside i would but a waterproof cover over it.

turn the crank pulley towards exhaust manifold side
and as scott says cover ports
