worth buying new seats?

  1. #1
    hello all,

Went to my local scrappy yesterday and they had loads of VTRs in so went and had a look at the condition, one of them was a 52 plate mk2 in great condition...

My current interior in my 1.1 flatty is horrible so I started taking the seats out of the VTR (the standard black interior with little red/green squares plotted around them, leather around back and sides) after gettin almost all out the man said he wants £50 for the lot, that's 2 front seats and the back seats. They are in great condition.. I walked away with just the spolier as I wasn't sure on paying that much for seats (spoiler cost me £17! Rip off!)

Do you recon I should go back next week and get the seats? Or should I save the £50 for something more important..

    Let me know!
    Cheers, D

Is it really important to you? If it is, why dont you save up a bit and buy a leather interior from a 106?

Will look mint mate but your looking at around £200 for the set. Well worth it though in my opinion.

Did you not think to ask for the price on the seats BEFORE you started removing the interior? lol. If the interior matters to you then as said, save up for a 106 GTi half leather interior. Get a nice set of bucket seats. Depends what future plans you have for the car.

Haha I should of done really! Well the place is normally really cheap so I just assumed it would be much, after getting most of it out I thought I better check just incase, heard the price and thought fuck it just taking the spoiler! I was thinking about buckets but my cars only a 1.1 flatty, would look a bit of a twat with all the sports gear with a 0 - 60 mph in 55 seconds lol...defo want to get new interior as the current is really horrible. Think I'm gonna go back next week and get the VTR interior, would love full leather but just too expensive atm, cheers guys!

I have a full VTR interior but abit far away from you lol.

The half leather's are comfy and look great if you get a good nick one.

Have to think mate, are you only getting this until you can afford to get the leather or sports seats? If its going to be replaced as son as you get the money is it really worth it.

Your choice in the end mate, just dont want you to waste your money if you are going to change it again soon anyway.

Yeh mate I'm probably going to keep them permanent, not too keen in spending money on sport seats or anything so probably just keep the VTR interior if I get it, if I had a bigger engine I would probably get the seats but it'll just look silly with a 1.1 lol, cheers tho matey, great help!

is it hard to fit bucket seats your self and how much is it normally to get them fitted.
  12. #12
The VTR interior is a good cheap upgrade to some of the basemodels horrible 1.1 interior imo.

If you can't fit buckets yourself then you dont deserve to sit in them.

Basically its just 4 bolts, if you can use a ratchet you'll do it easy.
Just remember to disconnect battery before touching airbag wires.

Cheers guys! Defo gonna get the VTR interior for £50 in the next 2 weeks or so, ill put pics up in my progress thread when its all done!

    Thanks, D

Replaced my interior with 2001 vtr seats and carpet a great improvement to my 2000 vtr model, Although mine where not good condition

to me £50 for front and back seats is cheap. i gave £25 for a vts rear bench from a specialist citroen breakersyard!

plus my local scrappy wants £50 for just the front seats. & £100 for the front and backs with doorcards.
  17. #17
£50 seems a fair price tbh. I think your right about getting a nice set of vtr seats instead of buckets. Like a few people have said its a nice cheap upgrade from the shitty seats that are standard. Also like you said it might look abit shit having a 1.1 with bucket seats. I have the yellow blue interior with yellow gear knob i thought about changing them but i'm more into doing the exterior then interior. Try and get him down to 45 worth a try.

Went a few weeks back and bought some taillights and a few interior bits, went back a week later and a whole new set of about 8 saxo's were there. Great place, about 2 days ago they had about 6 saxos, 3 VTRs rest were standard..going again this week mate

Might do that but the chances of someone round the area with decent condition ones are pretty minimal, ill keep an eye out tho matey cheers!

Just bought the whole interior, will put photos up later. havent fit it all yet, will do it sometime next week when i can.

i got the two front seats, back bench, door cards for £52.88

all in great condition, only downfall is the drivers side door card is pretty worn down (obv where the driver gets out frequently) but overall rest are all in gret condition, not a scratch or tear

what you all think of that buy?
