Hey everyone im new to the forum and currently driving an S-reg mk1 VTR. The car is running a full exhaust system (straight through) with a de-cat with a 421 manifold. Goes quite well to be honest with you. My main problem is looking over old receipts from previous owners it hasnt really had much work done to it (apart from 3 driveshafts) typical saxo..! im just wondering if i service it plugs/filters/oil change the whole shibbang am i going to increase the bhp? i also want it to run a little smoother. its got an oil breather with a disgusting unrecognisable air filter and 1 thing that comes up alot is to run a standard airbox with a panel filter? So basically to sum up! Is getting pretty much everything i can cleaned up or changed going to make a big difference? cheers
Service?

#2Could be the case where previous owners have serviced it themselve's, best to give it a good service, it won't increase bhp but should help if you are loosing any, only way to tell really is to get it on the dynos

#3cheers going to get that done as soon as ive got the cash.btw is it better to use a panel filter? alot of people reckon they give better performance and fuel is much more economical?

#4People say that an uprated panel filter in the standard housing is as good as an aftermarket filter/induction kit.
Alot of people reccomend the Green filters. -
#5When ever i buy a car, old or new. the first thing i do is service it. Gives you peace of mind that way.
