throttle position sensor? help

   hey just wondering if anyone can help, bit hard to explain but i'll do my best. when im say in 2nd or 3rd and im accelerating if i push the pedal a little more than half way down the engine seems to over rev and doesent pick up speed just over revs completely and rev counter says it still revving low... i have to press pedal really lightly whilst driving ... i got told maybe throttle position sensor? or throttle cable? any1 got any ideas? sorry for the long post lol. thanks in advance

   TPS is a quick change over and not expensive to replace, the only other thing i can think is maybe the clutch is slipping
