Starting Issue / Wiring Issue

  1. #1
I have just paid for a 1.1 saxo with a 1.6 engine in. Basically the engine will not start, yet it will turnover.

I havent got the car back to my house yet, but whilst at the sellers house we tried an unlocked ecu and it still didnt work.

The fuel pump isnt priming, however, he told me that when he wired the fuel pump straight to the battery it worked fine and fuel got to the engine. But it still wouldnt start.

We have put it down to no spark coming from the coil pack. Its most likely a wiring issue as the fuel pump doesnt prime either, any ideas?

It used to have a clifford alarm, which the previous owner before him ripped out, so we think that might be immobilising the system. I might try putting a whole new wiring loom in once I get it. All help appreciated

before you put this unlocked ecu did you take out the immobiliser box. coz if you dint then you would have locked the ecu again, this sounds like a ecu unlocking problem mate

    As above really.

I will check once I have access to the car, will that stop the pump from priming then?

Will I then be able to unlock the ecu myself? Im new to saxos, so not really up to scratch on the way they work atm

Sorry for the double post but do 1.1 east coast saxos come with an immobiliser?

Cant seem to edit my posts. Thinking about it, the immobiliser light doesnt come on at all. So surely, there is no immobiliser?

Just found that by accident, if you read the top post it is basically the problem I have. No power to coilpack and fuel pump doesnt prime. What is the relay in question as I might try replacing it, any ideas where I can get one from?

Fuel relay, why dont you head down a brakers?!

Will try it, just dont know if the one I will get will work or not

    Bump..

Getting a new crank shaft sensor, getting a voltmeter to test the relay and going to do a compression test. If all of those are fine, reckon its down to the wiring?
