Surely too good to be true?

Just been having a browse and found a company doing car remaps near where I live which only cost like £200 and claim they could increase the bhp of my 1.1 by 8bhp? Iv heard people on here paying like £400/500 for remaps? So surely this can't be completely right, too good to be true? I'm not thinking of remapping my 1.1 btw was just curious as I came across it lol

8bhp sounds about right on a near standard engine without cams tbh

£400 - £500 is for more complex maps where people have highly tuned engines and need to spend a while on the rollers, i think the one you are talking about for £200 will be worth a punt tbh

Doubt they can take a standard VTR from 90 - 103 though lol

Oo rite cheers for the info then, just sounded like quite a high percentage increase as it only has 60bhp as standard, it's like a 12% increase! Maybe worth a punt though as you say now you've commented it sounds about right

Superchips claim about an 8bhp on a standard VTR so that is why i said it's worth a punt

Ah rite fair enough then! As you can tell I don't know much about engine tuning so thought was worth an ask lol

For £200 if u save abit more.. could always put a VTR/S lump in the car.

Thats anywhere from a 30bhp-60bhp gain..

Hve you told them about all your other mods if u have any. Anything from how the car left the factory is meant to be noted

I suspect that is an optimistic amount in there add. If it is just a generic map there is no guaranty it would even gain any power on a given engine. You are best to get an engine tuned to its requirements though this is not cheap.
