What is this pipe called?

Apologies for using somebody elses pictures, but they are the clearest ones that show exactly the pipe I want to replace.

    Where 2 is marked:

    This pipe:

The one I have is brittle and sometimes coming loose, so I want to replace it. I guess the hose is cheap and easy to replace - I just don't know the name of it, and can't see it in my Hayne's manual.

No idea what it's called but it takes heat from your mani and aids cold starting, you dont need it. I usually just take mine off cause it put heat into your intake thus losing power (Not much but every pony counts)

    Its called Barry.

No-idea? Has it snapped off or something?

It's pretty much held on loosely with gaffa tape, but it's too short and brittle.

I thought it would be better repaired, than left to get worse - but Jason seems to be implying it's better to leave it off.

It will be but might be harder to start on cold mornings. Although I never had a problem with starting.

I thought you meant what was directly in the center of the circle of number 2. If you meant the silver pipe that dominates the second picture, take it off and put it in the bin, dont bother with replacing it.

you dont need. it just aids cold starting but obvs it doesnt help that much cus wen u start the car up the manifold is not going to give any heat off at all? becasue its cold aswell... and you dont need hot air going in to your intake. so i fink its pretty useless...

somebody correct me if im wrong

That pipe is there for a reason...it helps to prevent fuel icing. If you have ever experienced it you will know what a pain in the arse it is. Do as everybody says, take it off, you may never have a problem. As for heat from the manifold, stick your hand on it next time you start it up. An increase of just a few degrees will prevent icing.
