Starting problems

  1. #1
Recently got given a Van to use for work, which means I'm not driving around in my Saxo every day for a lot of time, just sitting around a lot of time.
Went to start it the other day as I was going out but it didn't seem to want to start. After leaving the key turned all the way for ages it eventually started up with some major rev's keeping it from cutting out for a few seconds it seemed fine.

Is this only a problem because its just been staying still for a while so it might have got damp or something?
Or could this be a bigger problem such as the starter motor being fucked? (Had no problems starting when using it daily so don't think it is?)

    Cheers in advance
    Mike

If you had to keep giving it revs to prevent it from stalling and this was while the key was released from the 3rd click then it wont be the starter motor as it would have dis-engaged. Probably just because it aint been run for a while.

Either take the car out for a run or put the battery on charge overnight.
