MOT problems

    I failed my mot/nct in ireland on my airbag light not coming on... i was thinking if i took my steering wheel off and replaced it with a racing wheel would it pass?? does anybody here know??

    mot should't fail on airbag

    The guy is in Ireland - and as far as I am aware, the NCT is 2 years but is more detailed than our MOT test. Section 60 states that "Malfunction Indicators" for ABS or Airbag will result in a failure.

    Replacing your steering wheel with an aftermarket one will not get rid of the Airbag light - you would need to either remove the Airbag ECU or take the warning light out of the dashboard (or get it plugged in to a diagnostic computer and fix the fault in the system)

    Didnt think it would fail for NOT coming on.

    Oh yeh I didnt see that - well I guess that with an Airbag clearly on the car (steering wheel) and no light showing - the system is not working. Maybe a new steering wheel will do it after all
