    Mk1 or 2?

If its Mk2, have you re-connected the LAMBDA and the correct one. You have a pre-cat sensor and the one after, more than likley this is disconnected or because the manifold has now replaced the cat. Fooling the ECU into thinkin the cat isnt doing its job properly and thinkin it needs replacing hense showing u the ecu light.

Make sure you have them the right way round. If the second one is in the exhaust then it will be readin the same emmisions as the first one, so itll think the cat isnt working as it should.

I spose as long as i have a decat its going to cry tbh.

which ever can reach the furthest away

Thats probably why. If you have two holes one for precat lambda and one for after the cat, then youll be best putting the second one in a bag and cable tie it underneath and plug the hole up with a bolt.

Also mate, one question do you know the size of a vtr and a vts clutch?
a 1.1/1.4 is 180mm and has only half the teeth... but i have one thats 200mm and has more teeth (dont know the actual name for the spoke bits that the bearing pushes on)
    Cheers!

You answered your own question aint ya? lol

VTR, VTS, GTI, Rallye's all have 200mm clutches. Some pressure plates suit different release bearings.
