1.4 furio gearbox

   just bought my first saxo from the auction
   (1.4 furio 03 68000 miles £800)
   there was a gearbox whine that i thought was a thrust bearing turns out its the layshaft bearings
   my local gearbox refurbers want £388 for a refurbed box new fork arm and clutch incuding fitting.
   i thought that was resonable
   any body got any views

   good price provided it is a refurb box and not just one hooked out of a scrapper and rattle canned silver!

   good price mate i just paid 250 for a company just to refurb my s2 rallye gearbox.and i think most garages charge 150 to remove and re-fit gearbox and to fit a new clutch so pretty good price.
