Info on engine life please

Recently got a Y reg furio, only thing is it has 106k on the clock,
What dya reckon the engine life will be, mileage left if its looked after
Or would it be suitable to get another lower mileage engine fitted,?

Main reason asking for this is because I regurlarly need my car and would like to know how much is left in it

    Thanks in advance

How long is a piece of string?

Id say you prolly going to get 150k+ maybe a bit less, but it all depends on when it feels like giving up ;D Maybe get it refurbed and get a few more miles outta it. Change the oil regularly and stuff like that, reduces wear on the engine.

To be honest, there is absolutely no way to tell

It could last another 100k or the engine could die after only 1k more
An engine with full service history and previous owners who have looked after it (not ragged it, let it warm up before setting off etc) should last longer

Mine has been treated like shit by its previous owner but was looked after by owners before that, its on 100k and still going strong. I service it regularly and it passed an MOT with minimal issues so its down to pot luck

You could have an engine that has been looked after well and it still dies at 107k, it happens.

Probably not the answer you were looking for unfortunately

Well It has full service history new clutch n sump etc, and my mate hu I got it from was mainly motorway mileage, I'll just look after it best I can, might quote a refute on the engine or get my mate to do it.
Thanks alot guys, this is why I love sax-p

Lol yeh, just look after it you'll be fine. If you look after it, replace parts as they get worn and don't ignore them. An Engine can last many more thousands of miles

You should always let it warm up slightly before revving, or driving.
    Especially in cold weather

And oil changes are a must. I do mine twice a year, more than is needed but there's no harm in clean oil

Mine on 129k and still going strong. Does have fsh up to 125k though.
  14. #14
mines at 131k with fsh and its not been owned by a young driver except last owner who was a young girl and didn't have it for long.

it stars, stops and goes as it should pulls like a train no knocks rattles or somke damn it doesn't even have a slight tap from the tappets unlike my m8;s who is around the 107k mark and has no service history with the car.

no matter what car it is i always service it every 6 months regardless of milage ( its always lower than recomended for the service interval )

Yeah mine has full service history but previous owner had it for 6k of the miles but I know he let it rip now and again, but I'll just treat it well, at end of the day I don't mind fitting a new engine lump if it dies, I'd just like to have the money there waiting since I need my car lol

Agree with all the above about regular oil changes etc have a look at the service & see when the cambelt was last changed as well.
