If you have a single plug ecu it is the 90bhp or 3 plug ecu is 98bhp. Mine is a 99 T with single plug silver top

    What are you talking about?

The 'black top' engine (used a distributor cap and ignition leads) with non-roller rocker gear was fitted to 8V Saxos until roughly mid 1998. They were then fitted with the 90bhp 'silver top' engine with roller rocker gear until 2001. Anything Y reg and newer will be the 98bhp 'silver top' engine with 3 plug ECU.

Rallypvc: if your car has a coil pack (which it should unless something is seriously wrong), you need a camshaft for a roller rocker engine.

Some Y reg's had the 98bhp, and some had the 90bhp.

I've yet to see a Y reg car with a 90bhp engine, but it's definitely possible.

Either way, they are both silver top engines with roller rockers - as long as Rallypvc buys an aftermarket cam for an engine with roller rockers, it will fit.

    1997 Reg = Blacktop
    1998 - 2000 = 90BHP Silver Top (V,W,X Reg Mostly Mk2 Shape had the Mk1 Engines in them)
    2000> = 98BHP Silvertop (Y reg Onwards)

Just to stop all the arguments I looked and it's a silvertop 3 plug ecu 98bhp

Rallye Inlet will, I am sure you need to change a few sensors though. No, gains from a 3 plug Cam will not be at all successful. If you want good gains, look on www.kamracing.co.uk and have a look at Saxo VTR cams on there

sweet, wasnt sure if it was just black tops that could have the rallye inlet cheers
going to look into the cams, is it worth getting a vernier pulley??
