#3Looks good mate! You left yourself a hole in the mesh to get to your bonnet catch though?
-
#4I did this... had to glue grill on.. fuck the hassle, brought myself a dimma grill, on its way now waiting..
-
#5the glue and shit is all setting thought id leave it overnight, pics will be up tomorrow and was guna put the hole in when it was on the bonnet
-
#6looks just like mine.. altho i have white chevrons
-
#7i thought id keep them standard as i haveee not gota clue what colour code to go with aha
-
#8heres a couple of pics of mine..

(needs lowering - lol.. my drive is on a slope)
Car now has black angel headlights, and white multispoke wheels
-
#9nice man what did you use to remove the vents as I've seen the guide but don't have a dremmel. may do mine with matt black chevrons and colour coded outer
actually might not colour code as that looks pretty mean -
#10at the time i did mine i was in the middle of moving house so i had limited tools (all packed up and stuff)
so i used a small drill to put loads of holes along the top of each slat and snapped them out.. then used a file to smooth the rough edges..
sounds proper pikey i know.. but the results speak for them selves.
-
#11hacksaw + hacksaw blade, wrapped some duct tape round if for a handle and bit of effort came off, then used files + sandpaper to smooth down, the hardest bit is the other fragile frame imo
-
#12dano got any recent pics of your car, my mates got the same colour car ands looking for some ideas, thanks
-
#13ummm
pretty much the same as this.. but has standard mirrors.. and the white chevrons
(the car in these pics belongs to the guy i bought the wheels from)

and a close up of the wheels

Will get some pics of mine when the weather gets nice again.. its filthy at the mo and back on vtr wheels for the winter

#18Any tips on reseating the rear section of the grill?
I split the two parts, removed the slats, cut the mesh to just oversize and reglued the rear back on but when on the car it doesn't fit flush (the rear section is tight but there's a gap between the bonnet and the rear of the front part of the grill) - it's cos the rear part is not exactly in the same place a before - I'm toying with the idea of trimming a bit off the screw housings so the grill sits further back.
Any help, suggestions of where I went wrong or how to fix much appreciated???
I can resplit it and start again if I can figure out what I did wrong - maybe there's too much oversize/hang of the grill which isn't allowing the rear section to seat correctly?
Any photos of the rear of these grills showing how to fix the mesh and rear section? -

when you split the 2 halfs of the grill.. did you put the mesh between the 2 halfs.. or to the back of the back part..?
if that make sense.. lol
Edit:
cutting the housing where the screws go in should make it sit flush again -
#23Yes got you - the mesh is in between the two halves not on the back of the back.Quote:ughhh i had the problem.. abit hard to explain really

brainbug suggested bending the metal tags a bit where the housing sits - which also sounds logical - I'll have a better look in the daylight tomorrow to see which option will work best.
It's not far out just enough to be annoying
Have a dimma grill fitted ATM but wanted the choice

#24i fitted the mesh to the back of the back pieces.. which allowed the front piece to be closer to the back and when i screwed it back to the bonnet it squashed the mesh in abit so it allowed the whole grill to sit flush to the bonnet.. its not perfect but ill work on it soon..Quote:Yes got you - the mesh is in between the two halves not on the back of the back.

its not noticably sticking out tho.. im just a perfectionist.
