    i brought a saxo 1.4 westcoast
now i have brought a 1.1 litre 51 plate gearbox to replace my broken one so decided to do the clutch at the same time
now this car has been lowered on its arse with vtr kit and i have been trying to get a clutch
i have had 2 sent to me now and not fitting the diameter of the clutches not fitting are a 180mm friction plate ,
now the clutch i have removed i have just measured and the friction pad measures 200mm
i have just found out thats the same as a vtr
does this mean it has a vtr engine in it?
the preasure plates from the clutches i have been recieving are not big enough the holes are too close in compared to the one i removed

it looks like an early silvertop engine, what reg is the car? im not ocmpletely clued up on furios but id have thought thats not its original engine as it looks like one from a later car

I'd buy a VTR Clutch and just fit that...

i brought the car from a friend who was told it is a saxo westcoast 1.4 and thats what it says on logbook,
i have sent off for the logbook now just waiting
the reg of this car is a s reg and the reg number matches to a 1.4
so if this isnt a 1.4 westcoast then its been converted and thats why my clutches wont fit
i was going to convert next year too lol
this car has been brought for a little project, something to work on
so this is a vtr then?

Looks like VTR Engine to me, if the Clutch is the size of a VTR and not 1.4 then yeh it must be a VTR. And I think 1.1 Box's fit on VTR's okay. I know some people who have fitted them on their VTR's. Although the DIF don't last long lol.

yeah lol thats what i was thinking
i mite as well by a vtr one now but wanted to make sure because i didnt want a vtr gearbox if it wasnt because i would have thought it would have made it slower

sorry for the double post it wont let me edit my last one
has anyone got a pik of a westcoast engine just out of intrest because when i been looking on the internet i carnt find one to compare them
and after looking at the vtr engine thread i agree it does look like a old silvertop model
this saves my the hassel of converting next year but will need a new rad because this is tiny and i dont think its right

Low end will be much quicker, you'll hit the limiter in seconds in 1st and 2nd and top end won't be as fast. Around 3,700RPM at 70.

will last a few hours then lol

1.1 box will fit but you'll need a passenger drive shaft from a 1.1 as well to match the diff in the box. I'd get a vts box if i was you

Crap yeh sorry forgot to say about the shaft you'll need. VTR's are longer
  21. #21
ive got a 1.1 box on my west coast, it was a direct fit, unbolt the old one, bolt the 1.1 box back on.... and tbh its not a massive improvment, if i had to do it agen i wouldnt use a 1.1 box. id go for a 1.4 xsi box

i have found a few numbers on the engine such as
    z02
    b2
and the engine number not sure if these mean anything
  25. #25
sorry for posting again i found out these numbers mean nothing
any ideas where the engine code is so i can see what litre it is?
  26. #26

yeah seems i have a vtr engine and i didnt know
    lol
i had to go and get a vtr clutch and gearbox today
all ready to fit but im finding it hard on my own to put the gearbox on
because of the weight and size im finding it hard to hold it up and get it in place
gotta find someone to help me
  32. #32
i have a machanic helping on saturday so all good
if anyone is in need of a gearbox from a 1.1 51 plate then let me know
just want 50 quid for it and i paid 100
i can send the clutch back to where i brought it but not the gearbox
so i have the gearbox for sale
i was wondering what you guys do with your broken gearboxes?
i have the one from my car wich is a vtr gearbox but couldnt get reverse and inside i can hear a rattle, if this broke gearbox is usefull to anyone let me know you can come and take it because it will be scrapped otherwise
  33. #33
