hi- been on this problem page all week lol- pain in the back side-

left my car started the other day while bleeding the radiator system, but whilst it was running- it just seemed to sound more like a diesel engine then petrol. where it says 16v on that plastic bit on back of engine in there or under it seems abit tappety when revving. not sure wether its ment to be like that or has been like that since ive had it and not noticed... do you reckon its something to worry about or is it ment to be like that on all cars ?

    thanks adam

um havent really ragged it for a while but still seems to have the performance at mid range speeds, ticks over lumpy but think thats to do with the cams

nah engine oil and water seems to be fine- i check it every week and been on the max mark since i last serviced it,, i top and bleeded the system last w.end to do matrix but seems to have water at the max mark still mate

Ahhhhh I see you've cammed the engine did you remap it at all? If not then could be the ecu not being able to inject the correct mixture or at the correct time.

mmm nah not got it mapped yet- just saving me last little bit of money now towards a map- do you reckon thats the problem then ? if so will it harm the engine in any way ? thanks woody =]

Could very well be, I wouldn't say so as long as it runs ok no lack in power you will soon know if it will cause the engine a problem as it will throw up the engine management light and possibly go into limp home mode also no problem happy to help .

I'm having this same issue with my 99 1.1, it's like a ticking noise, but I've noticed some loss of power, is there anything I could do to try to correct this?
(Bearing in mind I'm a complete newbie at anything to do with cars). Haha.

Does it struggle to get through the rev range at all?

thanks woody- ticking noise is same as ive got- never noticed it before i took my dash out to change heater matrix...=[ it does get annoying as makes my car sound like a remote control when driving along lol,, woody do you reckon that noise would go then if i was to get the car mapped then hopeso anyway lol

Yeah it sounds like the problem with yours if it isn't then could be the lambda sensor starting to play up. Wouldn't be the coil pack as its not misfiring when driving so im 99% sure its your mapping.
