Decent Tyres for dry/wet & track

  1. #1
The time has come to buy a set of tyres,

Looking for a set that are as good in wet as dry, if possible, aswell as the occasional track session.

atm i have Toyo Proxes T1R's on, they are good, just not great in the wet. Wanting Yoko A048's or R888 for track as i have other wheels to use on track, but these are no good in wet/winter weather.

any recommendations will help, been told that Toyo Proxes PX4's 'should' be good as they have a double 'V' pattern.

    thanks Roper

R888s are good in the wet..

    Rainsport 2's
    Eagle F1's

are both good road tyres in the wet and dry!

I recommend Yokohama Parada Spec 2s. Good price, normally roughly the same or less than T1Rs, I find they're fine in the wet and great in the dry with a little heat in them.

Having read your first post properly again, i'm surprised you found T1Rs tricky in the wet, I had a set before the Yokohamas and found them to be good once up to a good temp?

I found Parada Spec 2's 10x worse in the wet compared to the T1Rs! Stupidly soft tyre walls, heat up rediculously quick but give good dry weather grip. Also dont last 2 seconds if this is a factor.

Eagle F1's are far superior to T1r's in every aspect.

    IMO.

I genuinely find that Paradas take almost too long to heat up! After a good spirited drive in any car, I normally touch the tyre to see how the tread feels and Paradas always surprise me with how cool they are.
I guess it's a matter of opinion and definitely a matter of the set-up of the rest of the car - suspension etc.

Another recommendation here for rainsport 2's. Well priced especially bearing in mind the extra wear a trackday will give them.

I've used rainsports, 1's on the front and 2's on the back of the car, in both warm+dry and cold wet+dry(ish) conditions on the nurburgring in the past two months. Found them to be pretty good for grip in both situations.

The front end was a little slippery in the wet but nothing where i felt out of control, the 1's on the front are getting low as i'm trying to wear them out so reckon thats why i was lacking grip as for fast road driving they're still fine
