    Hi all

Right i have developed a ticking / light banging noise, which can only be herd whilst stationary

now when i put the clucth in it goes

been searching on here but couldnt find an answer

So im guessing its a Realease Bearing or my Gearbox input bearing

If worse come to worse how easy isit to Replace the Input bearing a i do have some press's at work and im pritty mechanicly minded

Usually when you engage the clutch, and it goes away, then it's the input shaft bearing.

That's a gearbox apart jobby, which is actually very simple with a press.

I would advise paying for premium membership and following the step by step guide of rebuilding a gearbox. And you will easily do it yourself if you're mechanically minded.

Obviously when the gearbox first comes off, you'll be able to tell if your release bearing is screwed.

I would say it's the release bearing. Very common - I've had two very low mileage Saxos and both had noisy release bearings from cold starts and a rumbling when sitting in traffic. Clutch down and the noise disappears.

Must be an age thing with Valeo release bearings.

I have replaced 2 clutches with valeo kits and both release bearings made a bit of a noise.
Have just done a vtr using an A C Delco kit and hey presto no noisy bearing.

sounds like input shaft. you know when its going as it gets really, really noisy. i had one louder than the engine!
