anybody had fuel mixed into their oil?

basically my car is running like a bag of shit.

    no power

    really loud

and fuel smell when i take the oil cap off!

    anyone experienced this before?

    cheers

correct me if im wrong im thinking head gasket. that

compression is lost through oil feeds, water jacket etc. that'll be loss of power

oil might be contaminated with fuel through crack in gasket etc.

    yepp headgasket.

over-fuelling is favourite, most likely cause is a faulty injector dumping excess fuel in, unburnt fuel then leaks down the side of pistons into the oil

i dont think fuels going to leak past the pistons. the piston rings other than keeping compression they stop substances ie oil, fuel from leaking past.

    unless faulty :/

really? maybe you should spend a bit of time with Td5 land rover engines or 16 valve golfs, they are 2 of the common ones to suffer fuel/oil mxing

haha that i didnt know. fairplay

    Cheers boys.

Do you think this could be caused by my inlet cam somehow advancing a tooth?
  9. #9
yes it can, if cam timing is out, fuel won't be getting burnt properly. have you sorted cam timing or is it still running like that?
  10. #10
Well I have an ecu issue on top of it all. So gotta send my predator back to luthor so he can sort it. Not actually looked at cams yet. It's dark and cold!

can remember one 8 valve golf gti we had in had an ecu fault that was causing it to overfuel in a big way and diluted the oil with unburnt fuel, could be a similar scenario perhaps?
  12. #12
Hope so. Andy said my MAP figure was high. And suggested cam may have slipped a tooth

drain the oil out asap and fluch it through!!

had this when a sensor wire go damaged on my 309 gti whilst doing a headgasket swap!!

had about an extra 2 litres of oil out the car as it was mixed with petrol!!

yes it can get past the rings and as said is common fault on some cars!!

same has happend to me just over 2 weeks ago... luckily mine was just caused by stopping and starting. luckily my oil wasnt over max it was slightly higher then it should have been.

mine was the same as kevs.... my headgasket is still in tact had it tested its usually caused by stop start runs or short runs where the engine doesnt warm up too a good temperature.

This is what i was reading about tonight in the Haynes manual......spent two hours this afternoon with kev, trying to see whats going on with his vts....

Its called Bore wash. Get it sorted quickly as petrol does not lubricate your engine internals very well at all....
