wining noise

   hi people
   
   ive just had my clutch done and gearbox all sorted out.
   
   there is a wining noise coming from my car if i go above 40mph and gets louder as i put my foot down. it also does this noise when i let go of the accelarator, soon as im below 40mph it seems to go
   
   PLEASE HELP AS ITS DOIN MY HEAD IN

   Mine did this a while ago, it was because the CV boots got dry and they were rubbing against themselves. spray a bit of WD40 on them or something.

   Good luck finding the problem.I had this and tried everything and finally found that it was the nearside rear plastic part that sits behind the wheel .It was loose and rubbed against the tyre at certain speeds!!!
   This sort of sound is very difficult to pinpoint

   I don't know why that didn't work...

   Look at the driveshaft there, the ridged rubber parts at either end are the "boots"
